Alexander Dimitrov was born in Rousse, Bulgaria and began painting at the age of six, initially learning the skill from his father George Dimitrov, who was very well known in Rousse. At the age of 15, he completed studying from one of the most famous Bulgarian artists, at the time, Kiril Stanchev. Alexander expanded the dimensions of his artistic expression even further by attending the Technical Institute for Interior Architecture and Aesthetical Design in Bulgaria. Alexander paints in oil on canvas, sometimes using acrylic on canvas or mesonite. Hyperrealism was Alexander’s initial genre, back in his early days of painting, from which he smoothly transformed to surrealism. Some of his works are exhibited at the National Gallery of Bulgaria and at the City Gallery of Soufia. Most of Alexander’s art is related to human psychology, and sense of time, as well as visualized metaphors painted on canvas. He currently lives and works in New York city.
